Christmas in the Dublin Docklands 2019—From the start of December the area will be buzzing with festive activities. Here is our list of things to do this Christmas, including the best family events and markets across the Dublin Docklands.

East Wall's annual Christmas festival is not to be missed if you live in or around the area. On the 30th of November, East Wall's Christmas officially gets underway when the lights are switched on at the end of Johnny Cullen's hill on the Tree of Remembrance. People are invited to place a yellow ribbon on the tree to remember their friends and family who are no longer with us. Yellow ribbons will be available from the East Road Cafe; which will be open late for the event and will be providing complimentary hot drinks and mince pies. The P.E.G. Variety and Drama group will sing Christmas carols to get everyone into the spirit.

Perhaps it was the magical festive window displays at Curtis Family Butchers on Church Road which first attracted Santa, but whatever the reason, he keeps coming back and this year will be no different. Santa will arrive at the shop at 12:00pm on Sunday, and children of all ages will get their chance to tell the big man what they would like for Christmas and have their photo taken with him. Check out the miniature trains running through the winter wonderland in the shop window while you wait for your chance to meet St. Nick.

Also on Sunday the 1st of December, the Sean O'Casey community centre will play host the Christmas fair. The fair includes a Christmas market. Last year's market had many great stalls, for example the East Wall Youth club stall which was selling craft items created by the kids at the club. This years market is bound to be just as good. As well as the market there will be a farmyard and petting corner, raffles and a chance to be entertained by St. Joseph's Co-ed school choir. Christmas dinner will be available for €9.50.

It is unfortunate that the Christmas Flea market in the Point Village will not be happening this year as the Point Village is not longer available for the event but as well as the market in East Wall this year, The Mud Island Community Garden in the North Strand will also host a market. This market will be on the 7th of December from 12-6pm. There will be live music, delicious food and local produce and crafts.

Entertainment

There will be plenty of entertainment over the Christmas period, with events at the 3Arena and the Bord Gáis Theatre, but it doesn't have to stop in January. One of the highlights will be the Little Mermaid Panto in the Séan O'Casey in East Wall which will run from Monday, 17th - Sunday 22nd February, 2020.

Check out some of the other events in the area below, and have a great Christmas!
