Bord Gáis Engergy Theatre

Jersey Boys: 6 March 2019 – 16 March 2019

This award-winning Broadway show has won the Tony Award, Australia’s Helpmann and London’s Olivier Awards for best new musical. This show stopper closed on Broadway back in 2017 and was the 12th longest-running show in Broadway history. Now, you can enjoy this award-winning production in the Docklands.

The show features the story of four guys from the wrong side of the tracks in New Jersey (U.S.A), who form a band—maybe you’ve heard of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, who went on to become one of the most successful bands in the history of pop. Rock-n-roll to songs such as Sherry, Walk Like a Man, Big Girls Don’t Cry and many more of your old favorites.

This band went on to stardom and made it into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and sold 175 million records around the world—all before they reached the age of 30. Learn more about the band’s story and hear these wonderful tunes. Enjoy a real old-fashioned rock-n-roll experience!

Country to Country: 9 March 2019 & 10 March 2019

If you enjoy country music, then don’t miss Country to Country – Europe’s biggest country music festival back in Dublin for it’s sixth year. This year, Keith Urban will play for the first time ever. You’ve probably heard his dulcet tunes and ballads, Keith is a four time Grammy Award winner who has broken the charts more than once. C2C will also feature Chris Stapleton, who returns once again for a headline spot. Another country favorite, Lady Antebellum return as headliners to join other country singers in Dublin’s country music festival at the 3A Arena.

Additional acclaimed artists taking the main stage include: Cam, Hunter Hayes, Ashley McBryde, Drake White & The Big Fire, Brett Eldredge, Chase Rice, Dustin Lynch, Carly Pearce and Lyle Lovett.

Paddy’s Night in Support of Comic Relief: 17 March 2019

If you’re looking for a night of comedy, be sure to consider Paddy’s Night at the 3Arena! This entertaining event is being held to raise funds for charities that take on homelessness and the refugee crisis. Abbey Theatre

The Country Girls: 26 February 2019 – April 6 2019

Based on the trilogy by Edna O’Brien (published in the 1960s), this show brings to life the story of Kate and Baba and explosive issues on sexuality and social issues during Ireland’s repressive period after WWII. The books, considered indecent and obscene, were banned under the Censorship of Publications Act. The books were also banned and publicly burned by the clergy.

Now, you can enjoy this story on the big stage in the Docklands! Watch the story of Kate and Baby unfold as they enter romance and marriage, encountering trials and tribulations during the 1950s in Ireland.

Backstage Tours: 1-31 March 2019

Have you ever wondered how the magic of theatre is performed? Then plan a backstage tour of the Abbey Theatre! You’ll have the chance to view the sets and designs of current productions, view the theatre’s portrait collection, learn how the national theatre works, its history and more.

Plan to spend about 75-90 minutes on the tour, which starts in the foyer. Tours begin at 4PM on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. If you can’t take the tour until the weekend, you’re in luck. Saturday tours start at 11AM.

Be sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes, as the tour will take you on all four levels of the theatre, which will also involve some stairs. If you have a mobility issue, just call the theatre when you’re booking, and they’ll try to accommodate your needs.

The recommended age range for those taking the tours is from 14 years of age to adults of all ages.
